Welcome to the Virtual Museum of Censorship! Ever wondered WHAT was censored in Lebanon, WHEN, and particularly WHY? You have come to the right place. Here, you will be able to look up material that was censored since the 1940's. If you don't know exactly what you are looking for, you may indulge your curiosity by simply browsing for censored material by genre or by period.

It must be noted that when the exact date of an entry is known, it is written by year; when only the period is known and not the exact date, it is written by decade

The museum is still a work in progress and your contribution is greatly appreciated as we will need all of your help to make the site as complete and credible as possible since the government does not provide us with any resources and/or information.

Heard of something that is being censored, is under the threat of being censored or has been censored in the past that we have missed/failed to spot? Feel free to report it in order to complete the database.
Our aim is to gather all censored material in one place to keep people aware of what is happening and to hold authorities accountable in order to protect freedom of expression.
This initiative will be accompanied by a series of events to support freedom of expression (for more info, please visit www.marchlebanon.org).
